Jim Kilpatrick's tuning blocks for pipe band snares are designed to streamline drum tuning. Find your preferred pitch; then, match the distance between the batter hoop and the suspension ring to a height/number on the block. Next time you tune, you can quickly approximate the same pitch by matching this distance to the block height/number of that pitch. Tuning blocks are also very useful when tuning a large group of drummers, as everyone can get close to the desired pitch, leaving only fine tuning for the drum sergeant. The blue block is for Pearl, Andante and Premier HTS800 & 400 snares. A separate block is available for HTS700s, 350s and 200s.
