We, at Tartantown, are delighted to offer to our customers the newly published book “Raising the Barre”. This splendid book is written by Lynne Erbrick, Sharon Farrar, Christie Freestone, Ann Johnson and Sandra Weyman – five members of the SOBHD worldwide adjudicators panel and Life Members of either the SDTA or BATD. In addition to their outstanding credentials in the Highland dancing world they are also professional educators with a vast knowledge in the skills related to teaching to a very high standard.
The book, while primarily written for new teachers, is filled with educational features for all teachers and indeed dancers themselves. The authors insight and experience into cognitive learning skills and child developmental areas is particularly noteworthy. However, the entire book is packed full of ideas for teachers in the foundations of good dancing, teaching of dances with special suggestions and exercises (including sing songs for young dancers, lesson plans and practice skills, teaching boys and children with special needs are all included in depth).
