Jim Kilpatrick's tuning blocks for pipe band snares are designed to streamline drum tuning. Find your preferred pitch; then, match the distance between the batter hoop and the suspension ring to a height/number on the block. Next time you tune, you can quickly approximate the same pitch by matching this distance to the block height/number of that pitch. Tuning blocks are also very useful when tuning a large group of drummers, as everyone can get close to the desired pitch, leaving only fine tuning for the drum sergeant. The black block is for Premier HTS700s, 350s and 200s. Another block is available for Pearl, Andante and HTS800s and 400s.
