Refunds & Exchanges

Tartantown offers a full exchange policy on most of our items as long as they are returned within 30 days of being received.  If the total of any number of items returned for refund (exchanges excluded) exceeds $400, a 15% restocking charge will be deducted from the total returned for refund. This restocking fee includes seperate orders being returned adding up to a before tax, and shipping total of $400. If any of the items ordered was within 5 weeks of the initial return purchase date, and the total return exceeds $400, the 15% restocking fee will apply. When returning for an exchange or refund, please include a note in the parcel stating what you would like done with your return (exchange for a size up or down, different item all together, or refund).  Your credit card information must also be present in the parcel (for refund, or return shipping on exchanged goods), as once your order is originally shipped, we do not have ready access to your card details; please note however that we do not refund shipping charges in any case.  If you are an international customer please mark on the outside of the parcel being returned, “RETURNING CANADIAN GOODS ZERO (0) VALUE” and ship using your national post service.  Straying from this may induce custom charges on Tartantown which will then be passed onto you. The use of private couriers such as UPS, FedEx, DHL, and Purolator often charge brokerage fees, which will become the responsibility of the shipper, to avoid these fees it is strongly suggested that one uses a national post service such as, Canada Post, USPS, Royal Mail, New Zealand Post, or Australia Post.   

 


Shipping & Rates

Tartantown tries its best to give you an accurate estimate as to what your shipping charges will be however sometimes there may be an incident where the shipping charge is more than estimated on site, there are also many cases where your shipping is lower than the estimated amount, and so your shipping rates are adjusted accordingly.  Canada Post is our primary shipping company used, and like other shipping companies they bill for the greater of volumetric weight (length x width x height = volume), or actual weight and so when buying a light but bulky item (e.g pipe case) your shipping rate will unfortunately go up, as it will be the volumetric weight being billed for.  If you feel uncertain about Canada Post handling your order you may request us to use FedEx, UPS, or Purolator, however we cannot be held responsible for the fee of such couriers.
Cut Material & Custom Made Garments
Tartantown has a no return, or exchange policy on any goods that have to be modified to your specifications. 
This includes:
-velvet
-tartan
-braid
-custom made jackets
-custom made vests
-kilts
-hornpipe costume
-national skirt and plaid
-clan crest items (e.g skean dhu, or wall plaque)
-anything else that specific measurements are taken
All sales on the items mentioned above are final, and non negotiable.

 

 

Billing & Credit Card Processing

As store policy Tartantown does not charge your credit card until the day we are shipping your order.  Upon placing your order, your payment details are stored on our secure server, and not accessed until payment is required.  On occasion if you are placing a custom order (please see items mentioned in Cut Material & Custom Made Garment section) we will take a deposit of approximately 25% depending on value to secure your order, which will then be applied towards the remainder of your purchase once we are ready for shipping.
